ASEAN-ROK Financial Cooperation Centre
Mr. Lee Young Jick has served as the Head of the ASEAN-Korea Financial Cooperation Center (AKFCC) and Minister Counsellor of Finance and Economy at the Mission of Korea to ASEAN since September 25, 2024. In this capacity, he leads initiatives to enhance financial and economic cooperation between Korea and ASEAN, fostering regional financial integration and sustainable economic growth.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Lee was the Director General of the Financial Disputes Settlements Task Force at Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC). Between 2002 and 2024, he held various leadership positions at the FSC’s Financial Policy Bureau, the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE)’s Treasury Bureau, and the Public Fund Oversight Committee, where he served as Director, Senior Deputy Director, and Deputy Director in different capacities.
As a distinguished economic policymaker, Mr. Lee has played a crucial role in shaping national and international financial strategies. He has served as Director at the Financial Policy Division of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Head of the Capital Market at the Bank of Korea (BOK), and Head of the Macro-economy and Finance at the National Economic Advisory Council (NEAC). His expertise spans economic growth, balanced development, international cooperation, international finance, capital markets, financial restructuring, innovation and start-ups, and technology policy.
Mr. Lee holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and is pursuing a Master of Science in Future Strategy (MSFS) from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Yonsei University of Korea.
A recognized expert in global finance, Mr. Lee holds Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) accredited by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA). His extensive experience in financial policy, regulatory frameworks, and economic strategy makes him a key figure in fostering economic resilience and innovation across the Korea and ASEAN region and beyond.
